Dr. Caroline Eckhardt, is Director of Penn State’s School of Languages and Literatures, which includes all the modern language departments at University Park. She has been a LCTL program administrator for many years and for the past six years has led the successful annual recruitment for both students and teacher trainees in Penn State’s StarTalk Arabic summer grant.

Dr. Eckhardt's field of specialization is medieval literature, especially Chaucer and late medieval chronicles. Main ongoing project is a critical edition and study of a previously unpublished fourteenth-century legendary history: Castleford's Chronicle, or, The Boke of Brut (Early English Text Society, Oxford University Press), volumes I and II published, volume III in progress.
