Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships

FLAS Fellowships are authorized under Title VI of the Higher Education Act and are administered by the U.S. Department of Education. They assist graduate students in achieving competency in selected foreign languages and conducting research in related international and area studies. 

Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Program Award

The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program Award provides grants to colleges and universities to fund individual doctoral students who conduct research in other countries, in modern foreign languages and area studies for periods of six to 12 months. Projects deepen research knowledge on and help the nation develop capability in areas of the world not generally included in U.S. curricula. Projects focusing on Western Europe are not supported.

To recognize the excellent work of honors students who combine studies in the Liberal Arts with a concern for global issues and encourage these students in continuing their contributions to the field of global studies
